Eco Bricks Initiative

By Shree Mahesh Jan Kalyan Foundation

The Eco Bricks initiative by Shree Mahesh Jan Kalyan Foundation is a practical, innovative, and community-driven solution to tackle plastic waste pollution. With an estimated budget of INR 5,00,000, this project proposes the collection and transformation of non-biodegradable plastic waste into durable construction bricks known as Eco Bricks.

The project begins with awareness drives across villages, schools, and local communities about the dangers of plastic and the concept of Eco Bricks. Residents are encouraged to collect single-use plastics and pack them tightly into PET bottles to create usable bricks. The foundation will then organize training workshops to teach Eco Brick production methods and build localized production units in selected rural areas.

These bricks will be used for constructing boundary walls, public benches, toilet structures, and demonstration projects in schools. The process not only reduces environmental damage caused by plastic but also promotes low-cost, sustainable infrastructure in underdeveloped regions.

This initiative aims to instill a strong environmental ethic, generate employment for local women and youth, and contribute meaningfully to both Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and circular economy goals. Through this ₹5 lakh proposal, the Foundation seeks to kick-start scalable, replicable models that convert waste into a resource and inspire long-term community action.
